Inside Narela; the colony's location applies
- Narela is the sub-city DDA has been building in the far north-west of Delhi. DDA plans it as Zone P-I of the Master Plan: the zone runs up to the Delhi-Haryana boundary in the north, has G.T. Karnal Road (NH-1, now signed NH-44) on its east and the Western Yamuna Canal on its west, and meets sub-zones C and H to the south. Of its 9,866 hectares, 2,501 hectares along the northern border are kept as green belt and the rest is marked for urban use. The plan was first approved as an urban extension in 1987, which is why much of Narela is still being filled in.
- How it is laid out: Narela is divided into sectors named by a letter and a number (A1-A4, A5, A6, A7, A9, A10, B2, B3, B4, B8, G2, G3-G4, G6, G7, G8 and so on). Several sectors are planned together and are named as a pair or a run: Sector A1-A4 (one housing sector of about 320 hectares, approved in 2004 for group housing), Sector G2-G6, and Sector G7-G8 (about 299 hectares, approved in 2007). Inside each sector DDA numbers its housing pockets (Pocket 1A, 1B, 1C, 3, 4, 6, 7, 9, 11, 13 and 14 in Sector A1-A4; Pockets 1 to 6 in G2-G6; Pockets 3 to 7 and 11 in G7-G8), and inside each pocket the towers are lettered blocks (Block A to Block Y in the new A1-A4 towers, Blocks E8 to E11 for the EWS flats in G7-G8). A flat address therefore reads Sector, then Pocket, then Block, then flat number. DDA writes pocket numbers both in Roman and ordinary numerals: the Nagrik Awaas Yojana 2026 flat list says 'Pocket III' and 'Pocket IV' where the launch circular says 'Pocket 3' and 'Pocket 4' for the same flats.
- How it is laid out - Sector A1-A4: DDA's modified layout plan for Sector A1-A4 (dated 20 April 2023) shows the sector bounded by the green belt to the north, the 100 m G.T. Karnal Road to the east, the 80 m UER-I road to the south with Sector B-2 beyond it, and Sectors A-6 and A-7 to the west. The plan re-measured the sector at 343.82 hectares against 320 hectares in the 2004 plan. It marks group-housing plots with codes such as A 1/1 to A 4/6 and a separately named Group Housing Pocket-11, plus Mamurpur Forest, ten higher secondary school sites and a 40,000 sq.m. driving training institute plot. The plan does not print the pocket numbers used in housing schemes, so the plot codes and the scheme pocket numbers should not be assumed to match.
- How it is laid out - Sector G2-G6: DDA's composite layout plan for Sectors G-2 and G-6 covers 362.23 hectares, including the existing village of Sanoth (30.54 hectares). It adjoins Sector G7-G8, Sector G3-G4, village Holambi Kalan and DSIIDC industrial land. The LIG and EWS pockets DDA has sold in G2 (Pockets 1 to 6) sit in this sector.
- Nearest metro: No metro line runs to Narela yet. The Union Cabinet approved the 26.463 km Rithala-Narela-Kundli (Nathupur) corridor of Delhi Metro Phase IV on 6 December 2024: 21 elevated stations, an extension of the Red Line beyond Rithala, estimated at ₹6,230 crore, with a four-year completion target from sanction. Four stations are named for Narela: Anaj Mandi Narela, Narela DDA Sports Complex, Narela and Narela Sector 5.
- Metro under construction: DDA's July 2026 Karmajeevi brochure still describes the Sector A-4 station on the Rithala-Narela-Kundli corridor as upcoming and puts it about 1.5 km from Pocket 11, Sector A1-A4. The same brochure mentions a proposed Narela RRTS (regional rapid rail) station about 1.9 km away. A dated construction milestone for the corridor was not found in an allowed source, so completion should not be assumed.
- Rail: Narela railway station is on the broad-gauge main line to Amritsar that runs through the sub-city. DDA's Special Housing Scheme 2021 brochure puts it about 2 km from Sector A1-A4. Indian Railways lists Narela among the 13 Delhi stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme; as of 26 March 2026 work on platform shelters, platform surfacing, toilets, the circulating area, parking and access for persons with disabilities had been taken up. The zonal plan also proposes a four-track main line and a passenger terminal near Holambi Kalan.
- Roads: The Alipur to Dichaon Kalan stretch of Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II), 19 km built for about ₹5,580 crore, was inaugurated on 17 August 2025, with spurs towards Bahadurgarh and Sonipat. DDA's September 2025 circular describes UER-II as recently inaugurated and credits it with Narela's improved connectivity. Within Narela the zonal plan lays out UER-I (80 m), UER-II (100 m) and UER-III (80 m) between G.T. Karnal Road and Rohtak Road. For Pocket 11, Sector A1-A4, DDA gives UER-I at 0.5 km, G.T. Karnal Road at 1.1 km and UER-II at 6.15 km.
